1. When you think of America or the United States what kind of thoughts do you have? I was born in Mexico, first daughter of Spanish parents, so I can´t see "America" as a whole.... As for the USA, the feeling it provokes me might be described like...Infancy.... I have the conviction that the nations behave in a way similar to an alive organism, and the USA is like a teenager with excess of power, hallucinating with everything what it sees around it, trying to control everything convinced that it has the key of everything but blinded by its own chaos... A mixture of fear and pride, and some vanity. For many of the Americans that I have known, the image that remains in my mind is that of a country strangely isolated from the world... A kind of gigantic "Truman's Show", in many cases, plenty of marvels but ignorant of everything foreign. 2. What are your thoughts on Francisco Franco? Complicated answer....:P Well... My family was very involved in the civil war, all my father´s relatives have been politically active communists, and the father of my mother was an anarchist, affiliated to CNT... Nevertheless, knowing the development and the origin of the war, I cannot let myself be blinded by the historical hatred. First of all, the essential problem of the postwar was that Francisco Franco was not a politician, he was a military man. He could do what there can do the military men, the art of war, he was good at tactics and all that, but he knew nothing beyond that. When someone has centred his whole life on just one area, and he owes all his successes to that only way, if you put him outta there and give him power, the whole thing cannot go out well, less if this way is based on obtaining things by spilling blood like who changes baseball cards. I don´t like politicians, and I don´t like how social structure is raised, but if there is anything worse that a politician is a military man put to politician... Because he´s not only a cretin, but an alienated cretin. 3. What are some of your favorite Spanish films? If someone were to visit Spain what would be the single most important thing for them to see or do? Spending a night in Granada looking at the Alhambra from the San Nicolás viewing point, worrying about nothing :) 5.
